Karate Course and Grading - York

Well, 2012 just gets better and better!

A brilliant day of karate with Langley and Campbell Sensei, 4 hours training, 49 Kyu gradings followed by 17 Dan gradings.
Eighteen Selby students took Kyu grdings, all passed and four achieved double gradings!

Congratulations Bex

Above - JKS Senior Elite Squad
Congratulation Sensei Rebecca for being selected to compete for the JKS England team events in the up coming EKF and Ireland competitions.

Bex's selection followed some gruelling trials with the Elite Senior squad at the LKA Honbu dojo last week.

Any karateka who has ambitions to compete for JKS England firstly needs to attend "open" training sessions, squad coaches will trial and invite karateka who meet the necessary standard to "closed" elite squad sessions. JKS team members are selected from the elite squad to compete as part of JKS England teams following ongoing knock out trials. To retain a place you need to fight for it, literally!

Bex, all of us at SSKC are very proud of your accomplishment, good luck for 2012.

A big welcome to the Leeds Karate Academy and Akashi Karate who have recently joined the JKS GB and Ireland.
The LKA has Clubs in Boston Spa, Harrogate and has a full time dojo in Leeds and Akashi is also based in Leeds.
The LKA is ran by Sensei Nick Herald and Sensei Matt Price. This awesome duo gave a dynamic display of karate at the JKS World Championships in Scotland last year.

Sensei Glen has also attended many JKS events over the last few years and also manages to make a few appearances at the York dojo when time allows in his busy schedule.

The Chances of Success

Recently Condon Sensei and Rushton Sensei both posted this picture on Facebook.
As gradings approach (20 days away) I thought I would share it with you all.

Without a positive attitude there is 0% chance of attaining the rank of the Kuro Obi.
