Many thanks for sharing! I've never seen or head of this kata before - do you know some of the history of this kata? What style is it adapted from?
Here is the link to the video on youtube:

I know very little, it is a kata devised by Asai Shihan, you will see from the video the very fluid techniques that Sensei is notorious for. If you load the video in You-Tube Bertel Sensei has add some information in his discription, well worth reading. If you click on the Shotokan and IJKA KAta button on the post it will take you to a whole list of kata that Asai Sensei devised. The roots of the kata are in the ancient Chienese kata and the influence of aspects of Kung Fu. Much too deep for someone like myself to comment on really, Osu!

Konnichi wa Paul from Japan,
I'm in the same boat as you on this! Asai Sensei's karate is just too deep, I have so many unanswered questions, questions which only Sensei had the answers to. In saying that, you are very lucky to access Kato Sensei.
In regards to the kata Kaminari-arashi, Raiko and Ryubi, they are great series of kata. I'm sure that they have Chinese orgin mixed with Sensei's experimentation. In the case of Kaminari-arashi I was the experimement! I was present when Asai Sensei actually created this kata and also when he created Ryubi, and a couple of others. All fascintating experiences based on 'application'... Purple bruises which I'll never forget nor regret! And an open bar tab courtsy of Sensei!
All the best from Nakatsu-shi, Oita, Japan.
